What We Do

Two Things, Done Properly.

We don't do everything. We do tanks and the stormwater that goes with them, across Canberra and the ACT. Homes, businesses, new builds, replacements.

01 / Tank Install

Rainwater Tank Supply + Install

A tank that fits your block, your roof catchment and the way you actually use water. We size it on site so you're not paying for capacity you'll never fill, and not stuck wishing you'd gone bigger come January. Supplied, plumbed, and ready to use.

  • Site visit and tank sizing recommendation
  • Tank supplied to suit your site and budget
  • Slab prep and levelling
  • First-flush diverter and inlet screening
  • Pump connection (where required)
  • Overflow plumbed to stormwater per ACT rules
  • Tested and handed over working

02 / Stormwater

Stormwater + Drainage Tie-In

Tank overflow has to go somewhere, and in the ACT it has to go to stormwater. We handle the trench, the pipework and the connection, so the job passes inspection and your yard doesn't turn into a swamp the next time it pours. Works for new tanks, new builds and reno sites that need on-site detention sorted.

  • Overflow tie-in from new or existing tanks
  • Stormwater capture for new builds
  • On-site detention (OSD) connections for reno sites
  • Trenching, pipework and reinstatement
  • Compliant with ACT install requirements

Why Us

Why Canberra Picks Us.

01 / Local

Local ACT installer.

Ramon and the boys live and work in Canberra. We're not a supplier sending a sub-contractor from Sydney.

02 / Quoted

Fixed written quote before we start.

You'll see the full price in writing before you commit to anything. If the scope changes, we tell you before we touch a tool.

03 / Since 2003

Same crew, working in the ACT since 2003.

Capital Canberra Water Tanks is operated by 88 Enterprises Pty Ltd, also trading as Canberra Carpentry & Roofing. ABN 69 162 522 509.

04 / No Pressure

Free site visit, no pressure.

We come out, take measurements, look at your roof catchment and your stormwater setup, then go away and write the quote. No deposit, no commitment.

05 / Compliant

ACT-rules compliant install.

Overflow plumbed to stormwater. Mains switch where required. First-flush diverter included. The way it's meant to be done.

How It Works

Three Steps. No Surprises.

01

Free Site Visit.

You book a time, we come out. We look at your roof catchment, the spot you've got in mind for the tank, your stormwater setup and the access for delivery. Usually 30 minutes on site.

02

Fixed Written Quote.

Within a couple of business days we send you the full price in writing. Tank, install, plumbing, stormwater tie-in, the lot. No "from $X" games. No "we'll work it out on the day".

03

Installed.

You say go. We book in, deliver, install, plumb the overflow, test it, and hand it over working. Most residential jobs are done in a day or two on site. Bigger jobs we'll tell you the timeline upfront.

What Customers Say

What Our Customers Say.

A handful of recent jobs from across the ACT.

★★★★★

"Old steel tank rusted right through at the base and we were losing water faster than it was coming in. Rang the boys on a Monday, Ramon came out Tuesday morning, had the quote in writing by Wednesday and a new poly tank installed the following week. No deposit until I signed off, exactly like they said on the phone. Wouldn't go anywhere else."

Dave M., Kambah

★★★★★

"Thought we needed the biggest tank we could fit on the block. The crew came out, looked at our roof catchment and how we actually use water, and recommended a smaller one that suited us better. Saved us close to a grand on a tank we didn't need. Properly installed, overflow plumbed to stormwater, all the paperwork sorted. Honest mob."

Sarah K., Gungahlin

★★★★★

"Our builder needed the stormwater and on-site detention sorted before final inspection. Capital Canberra Water Tanks got it done in two days, signed off by the certifier first go, no back-and-forth. They turned up when they said they would and the job was tidy. Would absolutely use them again."

Frequently Asked

Common Questions.

How big a tank do I actually need?

Depends on your roof catchment, how many people are in the house, and what you want to use the water for. Garden watering is one calculation. Toilet flushing and laundry top-up is another. There's no honest answer without a site visit, so don't trust anyone who quotes you a tank size over the phone. We come out, take measurements, ask how you use water, and recommend a size that fits your actual use, not the biggest one we can sell you.

Poly, steel or concrete. What should I get?

Each one has trade-offs. Poly is the most common choice for residential: lightest, cheapest, decent lifespan, easy to install in tight spots. Steel (Aquaplate or COLORBOND) lasts longer above ground and looks tidier alongside the house. Concrete is the right call for in-ground installs and properties where you want decades of life and don't mind paying upfront. We'll recommend what suits your site, your budget and how long you plan to be in the place. We don't push one brand because we get a kickback. We push what works.

Does this meet ACT install rules?

Yes. Every install we do includes overflow plumbed to stormwater, mains-switch arrangement where required, first-flush diverter, and inlet screening. That's the way it's meant to be done in the ACT. If you're on a new build, we'll sort the stormwater connection and any on-site detention requirements as part of the job.

Do I need to do anything before the site visit?

No. Just be home, point us at the spot you've had in mind for the tank, and tell us how you're hoping to use the water. We bring measuring gear, look at your roof catchment, check your stormwater setup, and have a look at the delivery access. If you've got an old tank that needs to come out, we'll quote the removal at the same time. Usually 30 minutes start to finish.

How long from quote to installed?

Typically a couple of weeks. Quote within 1-2 business days of the site visit. Once you accept, we order the tank, book in delivery and install, and most residential jobs are done in a day or two on site. Bigger jobs or harder access takes longer and we'll tell you upfront.

Can you replace my old tank on the existing slab?

Usually yes, if the slab is in good shape and sized correctly for the new tank. We'll check it during the site visit. If the slab needs work or it's the wrong size for the new tank you want, we'll tell you what's involved before you commit to anything. No nasty surprises on install day.

What does it actually cost?

Honest answer: it depends. Tank size, tank material, how much plumbing is involved, whether the stormwater connection needs trenching, whether the slab is already there. We don't publish "from $X" prices because they're misleading. Every job gets a fixed written quote after the free site visit, so you see the full number before you commit. No deposit until you've signed off on the quote.

Above-ground or in-ground. Which is right for my block?

Above-ground is cheaper, faster to install, easier to maintain, and the default for most Canberra residential blocks. In-ground (concrete) is the right call if you want the tank hidden, you're on a smaller block, or you're combining it with landscaping. We'll show you the trade-offs on the site visit. There's no right answer without seeing the place.

What maintenance do I need to do once it's installed?

Not much. Check the first-flush diverter and inlet screen a couple of times a year, especially after big storms. Clear the gutters. Have a look inside the tank every couple of years to check for sediment. We hand over a one-page maintenance sheet on the day so you know exactly what to look at and how often.

Do you do commercial work as well as residential?

Yes. We handle residential installs across the ACT (homes, granny flats, sheds, dual-occ blocks) and commercial water tank work for ACT businesses, schools, body corporates and small commercial sites. Same posture either way: free site visit, fixed written quote, ACT-compliant install. If you're after a large agricultural or rural-property tank, give us a ring and we'll let you know if it's in our wheelhouse.
